Short answer: On the Kubota RTV-X1140, look at the lower rear A-arms. Welded stamped steel with visible seams means sheet metal arms (2016, before the mid-year change). Solid one-piece arms with no seams mean forged arms (2016.5 to 2023). Each needs its own Camoplast (formerly Camso) 4S1 kit, because the track bracket bolts to that arm.
Kubota changed the rear A-arms on the RTV-X1140 partway through 2016. Because the Camoplast 4S1 track kit’s rear anchor bracket mounts to the lower rear A-arm, the two arm styles need two different kits. Order the wrong one and the brackets will not line up.
The two RTV-X1140 kits
| Rear A-arm type | Years | Kit (part number) | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sheet metal (stamped and welded) | 2016 | View kit (6522-08-1445) | $6,599 |
| Forged (solid one-piece) | 2016.5 to 2023 | View kit (6522-08-2280) | $6,599 |
How to tell forged from sheet metal A-arms
- Look at the lower rear A-arm behind each rear wheel.
- Sheet metal arms are made from stamped steel plate that is folded and welded into a box shape. Look for seam welds along the edges, flat panels and folded lips.
- Forged arms are a solid one-piece part. They have smooth, rounded sections, no welded seams, and often a faint line along the middle where the forging dies met.
- Check the build date. If the machine is a 2017 or newer, it has forged arms. If it is a 2016, check the arms or send us the serial number.
- Still not sure? Snap a photo of the rear A-arm from below and email it to us. We will tell you which kit to order.

What tracks do for an RTV-X1140
The RTV-X1140 is a work machine, and Camoplast’s 4S1 is built for that kind of use. Per Camoplast, the 4S1 adds about 5 inches of ground clearance over tires and covers about 2,520 square inches of ground. In Camoplast’s own testing (on a Polaris Ranger), a 4S1-equipped side-by-side hauled up to 1,000 lb in deep snow and towed a 2,500 lb ice shack at up to 15 MPH. Results vary with conditions and vehicle, and your Kubota’s own load ratings still apply.
Expect to give up some top speed. Camoplast says about 30% is normal, and up to 50% on some vehicles. In return you get more low-end torque and pulling power. For feeding cattle in snow, plowing, or getting to an ice-fishing spot, that is the right trade.

Frequently asked questions
How can I tell if my Kubota RTV-X1140 has forged or sheet metal rear A-arms?
Look at the lower rear A-arms. Sheet metal arms are stamped steel pieces welded together, so you will see seams, folded edges and weld beads. Forged arms are solid one-piece parts with smooth, rounded surfaces and no welded seams. Per our fitment data, sheet metal arms are on 2016 machines and forged arms are on 2016.5 and newer.
Which years of RTV-X1140 have forged rear A-arms?
Kits for forged rear A-arms cover the 2016.5 to 2023 RTV-X1140. The 2016.5 date means Kubota changed the arms partway through the 2016 model year.
Are the forged and sheet metal track kits interchangeable?
No. The anchor bracket bolts to the lower rear A-arm, and the two arm styles have different shapes and mounting points. Camoplast sells a separate kit for each.
What does it cost to put tracks on a Kubota RTV-X1140?
Both RTV-X1140 Camoplast 4S1 kits are $6,599 at UTV Tracks, plus a flat $250 shipping in the continental US.
Will tracks slow down my Kubota?
Expect some loss in top speed. Camoplast says it is normal to lose about 30% of top speed with a track system, and up to 50% on some vehicles, in exchange for more torque and pulling power at low speed.
